Notes: Bloomquist Tory P is a shortie. Be sure to plant her where she won't get over shadowed by larger, taller plants. She is gorgeous on her own or tucked into an arrangement or bouquet. Tuber development is not always ideal. I imagine that may have something to do with limited availability and "unicorn" status year after year. In my opinion, she is worth the hype.

Tips on tuber production: when taking cuttings from this variety, the roots appreciate freedom from root riot cubes and other firm planting media prior to being placed in soil. Cuttings and tubers alike produce better with regular fertilization every two weeks for the first three months of the growing season. Bury your cutting several nodes deep in the soil. When lifting tubers in the fall, be gentle. Her tubers tend to be on the skinny side and stick straight out from the stem causing them to break off easily. Loosen the soil around the base of the plant and feel down the stem for the tubers. You'll feel like an archeologist discovering dinosaur bones.   She's an exceptional beauty and worth taking your time in the fall.

Note on Pricing: We value dahlia hybridizers and do our best not to undercut them in pricing. For that reason, the price listed for this variety is based off of the price set by the hybridizer or their designee for dahlia sales.

This listing is for one (1) dahlia tuber. All tubers will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail beginning in April, weather permitting.

Dahlia Care: Wait until all danger of frost is past before planting. Dahlias should not be planted outdoors until ground temperature reaches 55-60 degrees. Hold off planting if the forecast is predicting rain. Overwatering newly planted tubers may lead to rot.

Dahlias thrive in rich, well-drained soil. Use slug and snail bait at planting, don't wait until the sprout appears.

Dahlias should be planted in full sun in a location that receives a minimum of 6-8 hours of sun.

Most dahlias grow quite tall and require support, similar to tomato plants.

Most importantly, I hope these tubers grow into beautiful plants that bring you joy for years to come. Thank you for supporting my small business!
